SUMMER SLOWDOWN
Due to various summer holidays and breaks coming up for several members of the hard working Telos team, despatch of orders will be affected off and on throughout August. Please be patient if you place any orders in this period, and we will get to them and have books sent out as soon as we're able to do so. Posted by David @ 6:20 PM » Tuesday, July 15, 2008
REPRINTS
I've had a couple of people ask about the status of the reprint editions of some of our titles. I thought it was therefore worth mentioning them here as others might also be wondering ... First, The Target Book. The reprint for this is underway, but because it is printed in India, we're not certain when we might get finished copies. This could be 6-8 weeks away because of the time it takes to ship them to us. As soon as we get copies, we will be despatching them to those who are waiting. Howe's Transcendental Toybox: Update No 2: 2004-2005 is also being reprinted, but in this case we want to do the reprint as a full colour book (the original was in black and white). Therefore we are having to re-prepare the files for printing. This is nearly complete, and as soon as we have that sorted, then the book will be off to print. I would conservatively estimate that as being available for despatch in about 4 weeks time, though as this is the first time we'll have prepped a book for full colour printing in this way, there could be unforeseen delays along the way. As with The Target Book, as soon as we have copies for despatch, they'll be sent out. Posted by David @ 3:57 PM » Thursday, June 26, 2008

TV TIE-IN Monsters Within: The Unofficial and Unauthorised Guide to Doctor Who 2008 By Stephen James Walker DECEMBER 2008 Continuing Telos Publishing's unrivalled coverage of DOCTOR WHO, the 2008 series is subjected to analysis and discussion as Stephen James Walker continues Telos' series of titles looking at the new series of DOCTOR WHO. SPECIAL OFFERS A number of discount offers have been added to the website. For a limited time, until stocks have gone, we are offering sets of the Time Hunter science fiction/horror series and Hank Janson crime series of novellas and novels at a discounted rate. The price of several of our acclaimed limited edition hardbacks have also been reduced to £20 for a limited period. Click here for details of the HANK JANSON offer Click here for details of the TIME HUNTER offer There is also a new LAST CHANCE TO BUY section on the site, highlighting several titles where we are down to the last few copies, and which no further reprints are planned, so this is an ideal time for fans to complete their collections or to sample some of our award-winning and critically acclaimed horror fiction. FULL COLOUR TOYBOX HOWE'S TRANSCENDENTAL TOYBOX is the only guide to all DOCTOR WHO merchandise and collectibles. While we are preparing the next update volume (to cover everything released in 2006 and 2007), the UPDATE NUMBER 2 edition, which covers 2004 and 2005, has sold out in its standard edition. Therefore we are using the opportunity to take advantage of new digital printing processes to offer a limited reprint of the book, but in full colour throughout! The original edition was in black and white and, to be honest, we were less than pleased with the quality of the printing. So we hope that this full colour edition will make up for that. This is something of an experiment, to see how well the process works, and how the sales and costings pan out, but if this all goes well, then we also hope to print the next new Update edition in full colour. As the price of the colour printing is more than black and white, the price of the book has been raised from £7.99 to £12.99, but we believe that this represents incredible value for 161 pages in FULL COLOUR! BRITISH FANTASY AWARDS LONGLIST
The very wonderful British Fantasy Society have announced their longlist for their annual Awards, and we're delighted and honoured to see that Telos have a few recommendations on there: BEST NOVEL Force Majeure by Daniel O'Mahony BEST NOVELLA Time Hunter 11: Child of Time by George Mann and David J Howe Black Tide by Del Stone Jr BEST SMALL PRESS Telos Publishing Hopefully any members of the BFS who are voting in the awards (and if you're not ... why not!) will consider Telos' titles favourably in their final votes - there is as usual very strong competition from the other small press publishers, as well as some great titles from the major publishers, so the outcome is by no means certain. Congratulations to everyone who made the long list, and we now wait with bated breath until the results are announced in September at the annual FantasyCon convention in Nottingham. Details of the BFS are here: http://www.britishfantasysociety.org Awards Longlist is here: http://www.britishfantasysociety.org/news/?p=300#more-300 FantasyCon information is here: http://www.fantasycon.org.uk/ Posted by David @ 9:52 AM » Friday, May 30, 2008
UPDATE ON TIMELINK: THE GUIDE TO DOCTOR WHO CONTINUITY
A couple of people have emailed us recently asking about the status on Timelink, the guide to Doctor Who continuity. The current plan for Timelink is to publish some time in 2009. The main issue has been deciding just when to publish a guide to continuity given that there is, as well as regular seasons of Doctor Who, also Torchwood and Sarah Jane Adventures to consider. After discussions with Jon Preddle, the author, we've decided to take it up to the end of this current season of Doctor Who, and then to publish in 2009 during the 'gap' year for the series which hopefully will mean that it will stay current for slightly longer. We apologise to everyone who pre-ordered the book and who are waiting patiently for it to arrive. As always, if anyone wants a refund, then please just drop us an email at david@telos.co.uk and we'll get that organised for you. Posted by David @ 6:57 PM » Thursday, May 29, 2008
TELOS TOPS DWM POLL
The new issue of Panini's Doctor Who Magazine (number 396) reveals the results of their annual poll, and we're delighted that THE TARGET BOOK has won in the 'Other Doctor Who Books' category. The detailed results are: THE TARGET BOOK - 21.8% DOCTOR WHO ENCYCLOPEDIA - 20.6% DOCTOR WHO CREATURES AND DEMONS - 15.5% DOCTOR WHO ANNUAL 2008 - 12.3% DOCTOR WHO THE VISUAL DICTIONARY - 7.9% Others - 36.6% It's no mean feat to come top against titles published by the BBC themselves, especially considering the widespread distribution and immense sales that they enjoy, and we are really chuffed. David J Howe, author of THE TARGET BOOK, said: 'That book was a real labour of love from beginning to end, and risky for Telos to publish as, being in full colour throughout, it was a lot more expensive than the normal titles. From all the feedback we have had, and now in winning this poll, it's great that readers appreciate our efforts and satisfying that nostaligia for those old novelisations is a shared love.' BOOK UPDATE
It's been a little time since I posted an update here ... things have been moving along behind the scenes and we're working on a pile of new titles for the latter part of this year. Two have been announced already - Something in the Darkness, our guide to the second season of Torchwood, and Angel on the Inside, another brilliant crime novel from Mike Ripley. Hopefully before long we'll be able to announce the remaining titles, but until we have them developed to a stage we're happy they will broadly meet the dates we intend, then it's not really fair to give the details out.
